Unusual Cleaning Tips

Window Squeegee - the rubberised blade is the ideal tool for gathering up unwanted pet hair from carpet and sofas.

Lemon - banish limescale from your kettle by simply popping in half a lemon with some water. Boil it a few times until the limeacale begins to dislodge.

Grapefruit - to remove stains from your bathtub rub half a grapefruit around the bath and sprinkle with salt. Allow the mixture to stand on any stains, rub with a sponge and rinse off with warm water.

Peanut butter - this works like magic if you have gum on your carpet (or in your hair !) The oils in the peanut butter release the "sticky" in the gum. However, only use a tiny amount and wipe up the excess with a damp cloth and soap.

Microwave - santise your washing-up and bathroom sponges by putting them in the microwave for 2 minutes, this will kill 99% of the germs.

Hairdryer - if you get candle wax on your wooden furniture aim your hairdryer, on medium heat setting, at the wax until it starts to melt, then wipe it away with a cloth. This technique also works on wax crayon on walls.
